We’ve heard from parents that they would like more information and help on using the new online learning tools this year. We’ll be using this page to give you as much information as possible. If you want to have any questions, please contact PPS (Portland Public Schools) IT Support, which is supporting families who need technology help.

The online learning programs that you’ll be using
Here’s a list of the programs you child will be using for online learning.
Clever
To access all of the online learning tools you’ll be using, you need to use Clever, which is a portal. A portal is simply a website that gives access to other websites.
Seesaw
Seesaw is the program that teachers are being asked to use for assignments. You can find out more about Seesaw with this video:
Google Meet
Google Meet is the platform teachers are being asked to use for class meetings and small group instruction. The PPS site has instructions on how to log in students to Google Meet.
Zoom
Teachers can now use Zoom in addition to Google Meet. Teachers will let you know which platform they will use.
Other programs
Once you’re logged into Clever, you will fine other programs that are linked directly to your child’s progress and with teacher directed focus. For example:
- Dreambox for math;
- Core5 for reading;
- Formative for immediate feedback from teachers;
- Nearpod for longer projects and for more in-depth demonstrating;
- Book Creator – an interactive way to support collaboration, creatively record thinking and learning;
- EPIC – a greater selection of online books.
