Hello, James John Families.
Welcome back! It is so great to see everyone back at school and feel the amazing energy and optimism.
If we have not met you yet, we are your PTA leadership team and hope to meet you soon! Our first general meeting will be on Thursday September 30th from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM. We will meet outside on the covered basketball courts. We will try to have chairs set-up, but, if able please bring your own camping chairs. We’ll also ideally have food and childcare (at the outdoor playgrounds), but we are still working on those logistics and will update everyone through Remind as the date gets closer. Please remember to bring and wear your masks.
To tell you a bit about ourselves, we endeavor to support our children and teachers in a variety of ways. Our major accomplishments over the past handful of years has been:
- Re-building the playground outside of the kindergarten rooms (2018).
- Building out the Community Garden with Grow Portland (2019).
- Re-paving, painting, and re-turfing the playgrounds and soccer field (2020).
- Establishing the Community Need supplies process in the school (2020).
- Distributing funds to families in need across our school community during the pandemic (2020 – 2021).
- Purchasing outdoor tables and chairs for outdoor lunchtime (2021).
We accomplish this work through community fundraising, and there are a variety of ways in which to help, which you can find by reading through our fundraising website. In the web site you will see how you can donate through being a sustainer, by linking your Amazon and Fred Meyer purchases, and by volunteering at fundraising events like our (hopefully we can do it this year!) spring bingo night.
Last year was so difficult for everyone, and we were really unable to build up the PTA membership from the kindergarten to 2nd grade parents, so please plan on attending our first meeting as we grow our community and help you to connect to your neighbors! At the meeting we will cover our annual budget, talk about our current plans for the year, summarize open PTA leadership positions, and cover volunteer opportunities.
We are collaborating with Grow Portland again this year, and will have garden education for all students. Each class gets a 40 minute lesson in the garden every month!

Hola familias de James John:
¡Bienvenido de nuevo! Es genial ver a todos en la escuela otra vez y sentir la energía y el optimismo.
Si aún no lo conocemos, somos su equipo de liderazgo de la PTA y esperamos conocerlo pronto. Nuestra primera reunión general será el jueves 30 de septiembre de 6:00 p.m. a 7:00 p.m. Nos reuniremos afuera en las canchas de baloncesto cubiertas. Intentaremos instalar las sillas, pero, si puede, traiga sus propias sillas para acampar. Idealmente, también tendremos comida y cuidado de niños (en el patio de recreo al aire libre), pero todavía estamos trabajando en esa logística. Actualizaremos a todos a través de Remind a medida que se acerque la fecha. Recuerde traer y usar sus máscaras.
Para contarles un poco sobre nosotros, nos esforzamos por apoyar a nuestros niños y maestros de diversas formas. Nuestros principales logros en los últimos años han sido:
- Reconstrucción del patio de recreo fuera de las salas de kinder (2018).
- Construyendo el jardín comunitario con Grow Portland (2019).
- Volver a sellar, pintar y cambiar el césped de los patios de recreo y el campo de fútbol (2020).
- Distribuir fondos y enseres domésticos a muchas familias en nuestra comunidad escolar durante la pandemia (2020 – 2021).
- Compra de mesas y sillas para desayunos y almuerzos al aire libre (2021).
Logramos este trabajo a través de la recaudación de fondos de la comunidad, y hay una variedad de formas de ayudar. El año pasado fue muy difícil para todos, y realmente no pudimos aumentar la membresía de la PTA de las familias de kinder hasta segundo grado, así que planee asistir a nuestra primera reunión a medida que crecemos nuestra comunidad y lo ayudamos a conectarse con sus vecinos. En la reunión cubriremos nuestro presupuesto anual, hablaremos sobre nuestros planes actuales para el año, resumiremos las posiciones de liderazgo abiertas de la PTA y cubriremos las oportunidades de voluntariado.
Estamos colaborando con Grow Portland nuevamente este año, y tendremos educación de jardín para todos los estudiantes. ¡Cada clase recibe una lección de 40 minutos en el jardín cada mes!
